Jean Tinguely Niki de Saint Phalle Film
Films by Francois de Menil and Monique Alexandre. Narrated by Pontus Hulten.

The Menil Collection's 2014 film 'Jean Tinguely Niki de Saint Phalle' is an intimate portrait of one of the twentieth century's most celebrated pairs of collaborators and partners.

Francois de Menil initially filmed the disassembly and destruction of the "Hon-en Katedral"– a temporary collaborative installation between Niki de Saint Phalle, Jean Tinguely, and Per-Olof Ultvedt– though he fortunately continued to film Tinguely and de Saint Phalle at home and at work. These subsequent films, "Tinguely: A Kinetic Cosmos" and "Niki," are shown here alongside the short meditative film "Hon." Together these three short films form a truly personal observation of the lives and practices of Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely.
